in loving memory and enduring inspiration
The lore Roesner scholarship fund
The Lore Roesner Scholarship Fund was created to honor the life, resilience, and enduring legacy of Lore Roesner, who passed away on May 23, 2025, at the age of 95. This fund is dedicated to supporting women of The Phoenix Project for Frannie as they seek permanent, safe, and affordable housing—a critical step in building a life of stability and purpose after recovery.
Lore's life was a testament to courage, strength, and unshakable hope. A Holocaust survivor, she was among the last children deported from Germany at the age of nine. Lore lost most of her family to the concentration camps. Against unimaginable odds, she found a way to not only survive, but to thrive. She built a life of love and meaning first in Akron, Ohio, and later in Maumee, raising a family and touching the lives of everyone who knew her.
Lore refused to let her life be defined by trauma. Instead, she radiated joy, compassion, and warmth. Her presence was a light to those around her, and her story a source of inspiration for generations.
It is this spirit—the ability to rise from the ashes of tragedy and create beauty—that we aim to pass on through the women we serve. Lore’s legacy lives on in the strength and transformation of every woman who receives support through this scholarship fund.
May her story remind us all that healing is possible, hope is powerful, and every woman deserves the chance to rebuild a life of dignity and peace.
With Gratitude
The Phoenix Project Team
